Compressibilities of some layer dichalcogenides

Mean compressibilities, perpendicular and parallel to the layer planes, have been measured for MoS₂, NbSe₂ and HfS₂. Experiments were carried out in an opposed diamond anvil apparatus whereby changes of lattice spacing with pressure could be observed. NaCl was used as an internal pressure standard.
