Abstract

In the global environment where organizations currently operate, leaders who can move their organizations toward fulfillment of goals for all constituents are desired. What leadership style will be most effective in achieving these goals when the individuals involved have such a large variety of expectations for the organizational environment? To what extent are these expectations a product of national cultures? This paper examines the characteristics of Servant Leadership in order to assess the applicability of that style to other cultures, world-wide. This empirical examination is performed using data from the World Values Survey.
